Food Allergies Affect the Lives of Millions, and the Prevalence is Increasing

Children's Memorial Food Allergy Study

Families in the Chicagoland area with and without food allergies are invited to participate in a study aimed to better understand the role of the environment and genetics in the development of food allergies. 

Project Goals:

· To understand the role of genetic and environmental influences on food allergies.
· To educate the professional and patient community on food allergies.
· To advocate at the local, state, and national level to increase awareness and  resources for food allergies. 
· To aid doctors in developing more effective prevention and treatment strategies for food allergies.
 
What would my participation involve?
 
· A questionnaire interview about environmental exposures, diet, lifestyle, and specific allergies.
· A clinical evaluation including height, weight, blood pressure, and lung function measurements.
· A small blood sample
· An allergy skin test
Evaluations will be done by a qualified research nurse or research associate.
 
Participation in this study is completely voluntary.  Gift certificates are available for time compensation.
