Molecular Epidemiology and Bioinformatics

This newly established program is designed to bridge epidemiological, clinical and bench research through interdisciplinary collaborations and by application of advanced methods in molecular biology, population genetics, bioinformatics, and biotechnology.  It is particularly interested in the following areas of research: (i) prenatal and childhood origin of adult diseases; (ii) environmentally induced morbidity and mortality and gene-environment interactions; and (iii) pharmacogenomics.  The major health outcomes of interest are adverse birth outcomes, hypertension, diabetes, metabolic syndrome, asthma, allergy, osteoporosis, and Nicotine addiction.
