The COMP Research Advisory Committee is made up of investigators, physicians, and bench scientists from Children's Memorial Hospital (CMH) and other Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine faculty. The RAC advises COMP staff on policies and operations, research directions, collaborative projects, and educational and promotional activities.

Research Interest: During her years of work in pediatric practice-based research, Dr. Binns has participated in research studies on a wide array to topics relevant to primary care practice. Studies she has led in community primary care settings have focused on preventive care delivery, lead poisoning, obesity, and tobacco addiction. Other research studies she has completed on these topics gathered samples from hospital and out-patient clinical settings.

Research Interest: The majority of my clinical research spans the areas of type 2 diabetes in youth, insulin resistance, metabolic syndrome and polycystic ovary syndrome. My research explores both pathophysiology as well as treatment options. I am also involved in TrialNet, a national consortium exploring avenues to prevent type 1 diabetes.

As a sociologist I work to understand environmental, cultural, institutional and social influences on child and adolescent well being in low resourced and minority communities. I have experience and interest in community engaged scholarship.

Randall Williams, MD. Dr. Williams is the CEO of Pharos Innovations, a company that markets care coordination and remote patient monitoring solutions for populations with chronic conditions and care transitions. He is the president of the Williams Heart Foundation, and a graduate of the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine.
Research Interest: Trained as a cardiologist, interest are in the areas of chronic disease, cardiovascular risk factors, heart failure, obesity, and sleep apnea.
